Stretch-N-Grow Franchise Information

Stretch-N-Grow is a franchise for a business providing on-site fitness programs for children. It was founded in 1992 and started franchising in 1993. It was created by Jill and Bob Manly.

They opened their first location in Galveston, Texas. Their original plan was to only conduct classes locally. Their target markets are child care facilities. At that time, there were only 30 in their area but in just a few months, they were already conducting classes in 11 of them. Each class averages 17 kids.

They soon received inquiries from different cities. With that, they launched the trial advertising program for Stretch-N-Grow “Affiliate Ownership Program”. They entered the Canadian market in 1993. All they had was the concept of a comprehensive fitness program for preschool children but they got the attention of many. To them, their program is a way where Fitness Meets Fun. They now have 270 locations in the United States, six in Canada, and 49 locations in other countries.

What is the Stretch-N-Grow approach?

Their goal is to provide a quality wellness program and early childhood physical education using cognitive lessons and physical movement in an environment fit for children. Their process involves three components. Structured exercise routines using music and stories helps engage children and makes it fun for them.

Their lesson plans are focused on subjects like safety, nutrition, anatomy, and self-esteem.

Fun activities help promote sportsmanship and teamwork which aids in the child’s physical and social development. They say that for ages two to six years old, it is crucial for them to realize full potential. Their programs helps in enhancing and developing the children’s fundamental motor skills such as locomotor and non-locomotor, weight maneuvering, and manipulative skills. They also take note and focus on six key fitness components such as flexibility, strength, balance, endurance, coordination, and agility.

For Preschoolers, the class includes discussing healthy habits, exercise, nutrition, safety, hygiene, and self-esteem. For elementary School Children, they have cheerleading and sports.
