Camp Bow Wow and Home Buddies is a franchise for a business providing pet care services specializing in pet camps and premier dog services.

It was founded in 2000 in Denver, CO by Heidi Ganahl. They started franchising in 2003. They now have one franchise in Canada and 275 franchises in 40 all over the country in 40 states. In 2009, they were number 447 in INC magazines fastest growing private company.

Camp Bow Wow has put up a foundation called The Bow Wow Buddies Foundation. They currently have a project named “On Our Way Home”. They aim to help shelter dogs have a safer and fun environment. They help shelter nationwide do renovations and mimic the Bow Wow Camp with the help of their construction partner, FranPop. They are setting up play yards and webcams for potential adopters be able to view them while they’re at play. Other partners on this project are the Humane Society of S.Platte Valley and Longmont Humane Society. They also accept donations through their website. Their ultimate mission on this project is to make the shelter dogs become more adoptable.

What services do Camp Bow Wow Home Buddies offer?

They have the premier and Doggy Day and Overnight Camp. You can either leave them in the morning and pick them up at night or you can leave them while you’re away and pick them up when you get back. What’s in the camp? They have certified camp counsellors and trained camper care specialists. If your dog is staying overnight, they get campfire treats at night. Each dog will have its own Camp Bow Wow Cabin. It has a fleece blanket and the atmosphere has a controlled climate. For further safety measures, the camp has a professional security webcam that help monitor the dogs. You can even view their webcams anywhere you have internet access. Each camper are served food from home to avoid them from getting upset stomach. You can even request for special attention if your dog takes medications and this is for no extra cost. To keep each camper safe, they have rules to follow before checking-in. There will be an interview process to see if your dog is sociable to the others with its similar sized dogs. They also check that your dog is current on vaccinations and flea free just to name a few. Another service offered is the Home Buddies. As the name suggests, it’s for home care. They can visit you at home to do the walking of your dog or feeding, bathing, clean-up, and general pet-sitting. An addition to this is home based training. These are all done by certified caregivers. New to the services they have is the Home Buddies Cam. You can rent the webcams and you view your pets anywhere you are and all you need is internet access.

Costs and Requirements Associated with Running a Camp Bow Wow Home Buddies Franchise

You need to have a net worth of at least $250,000 and a total liquid assets of $10,000-$150,000. Expect a total investment of about $30,000-$831,000. Franchise fee is $15,000-$50,000 with an on-going royalty fee of 6%. This is for a renewable 10 year term agreement.

What’s included in the franchise package?

There will be 2 weeks training at the headquarters then 1 week training at your location and 1 week for home study. Included are co-op advertising, and national and regional advertising. You will receive newsletters, meetings, toll-free phone line, field evaluations, purchasing cooperatives, and assistance at the grand opening.
