Skyhawks Sports is a franchise for a business providing sports camps and programs.
It was founded in 1979 and started franchising in 2007. It was founded by Jeff Heimbigner after realizing that there was a lack of opportunity for children who are in various levels to learn specific skills as those available for serious players and elite young athletes.
Jeff aimed for two things: “Every child should experience the joy and benefits of sports.” and “Teaching life skills through sports.”. He started out offering regional soccer programs and before long, amazing athletes and individuals emerged. The camp focused on life skills such as teamwork, sportsmanship, and winning and losing with grace. As they expanded, they added 10 more games to their program.
The camps are held for a week on summer day camps and after school programs all year round. These programs last for about 45 minutes to six hours per day. Each program is specific to a certain sport that you choose. They now have two locations in the United States and 68 locations that are company owned.
What are the programs offered at Skyhawks Sports?
They offer programs for basketball, baseball, flag football, tennis, multi-sport, golf, lacrosse, cheerleading, volleyball, and track and field. The groups are separated into ages and skills. Ages three to four is in the “Introduce” program. Ages four to six goes with “Discover” program. Age’s six to eight are in the “Develop” program. Ages six to 12 are in the “Refine” program.
How do they choose their staff?
The coaches go through a process before being hired. There is an interview and tryout screening which includes proving their athletic skills, that they are good role models for kids and should have at least a minimum GPA of 3.0. They also do national background check, certified to do CPR and first-aid, testing on and off the field or court, and attend a training and skill development workshops. Each location has a program director, program coach, account managers, area managers, and area directors.

You need to have a net worth of $100,000 and a total liquid asset of at least $30,000. Expect to be investing about $39,000 to $67,000. The cost of Skyhawks franchise fee is $15,000 with an on-going royalty fee of 9%. This is for a renewable seven year term agreement. This franchise can be run from home. You will need about 15 to 30 employees to run one location. They allow absentee ownership.
What is included in the franchise package?
There will be four days training at the headquarters and three days at your location. You will be receiving newsletters and a toll free phone number. You will be given access to the internet and to assistance at the grand opening. Expect to be attending meetings and receiving occasional field evaluations to check on your progress. For marketing support, there will be ad slicks, co-op advertising, regional advertising, and national media.
