Homewood Suites by Hilton is a franchise for a hotel with residential style suites. It was founded in 1989 and the first location was opened in Omaha, Nebraska. It used to be owned by Promus Hotel Corporation along with Hampton Inn, Doubletree, and Embassy Suites.

In 1999, Promus Hotel Corporation was purchased by Hilton. It cost them $3.1 billion dollars. Its top competitors are Residence Inn and Staybridge Suites by Marriott.
