Golden Chick Franchise
Golden Chick is a franchise for a restaurant specializing in quick service chicken. It was founded in 1967 by Howard Walker.
He was an employee at a chicken franchise and as he worked, he was thinking that he had to find a way to cook better chicken. He opened the first Golden Fried Chicken in San Marcos, Texas. He was able to create a chicken with a secret marinate and batter mixes.
In 1982, he sold the chain and at that time, he already had 39 locations. Golden Fried Chicken was bought out by an investment group in March of 1989. They were very supportive of the franchise community and continued on. They were growing steadily and managed to produce joint franchises and committees handling advertising, purchasing, standards, construction and facilities, and operation. They made enhancements in 1993. They made changes on the menu and the appearance of the restaurants and it became the birth of Golden Chick.
