Goddard Systems is a franchise for an early childhood development school. The first Goddard Early Learning Center was opened in Malvern, Pennsylvania in 1986.

They opened their first franchise in Marshallton, Pennsylvania in 1990. In 1992, Goddard Systems joined the Carousel Systems’ franchise sales team. They also founded other companies like Maaco Auto Painting and Bodyworks and Aamco Transmissions. They changed their name to Goddard School in 1993. In 1994, they developed the Goddard Quality Assurance which is a scoring system and one of the most accurate QA systems in the industry.

The Goddard Systems University was founded in 1998 to become a training facility for franchisees. In 2002, they opened the first Goddard School in the west coast in Portland, Oregon. In 2008, they added Mandarin Chinese to their enrichment programs together with sign language, yoga, music, science, and world culture. In 2010, Goddard Systems partnered with the National Geographic Society in developing a new book for families.

What programs do they offer?

For infants, they have nurturing teachers that teaches them early communication, playing safely, developing a daily schedules and motor skills, and help them learn new vocabulary and self help skills. For toddlers, they introduce them to potty training, imaginary play with blocks and puzzles, social growth, practice putting on a coat, hand washing, picking up toys, sharing with friends, strengthening gross motor skills and fine motor skills, and instilling confidence through answering all their “why’s”. For preschool, they introduce the kids to cognitive skills like sequencing and matching, decision making, have visitors from museums, libraries and theatrical productions, introduced to computers, and enrichment programs such as art history, manners, and fitness.

For Pre-K and Junior-K, they are prepared for big school learning like handwriting skills, complex logical patterns, confident self-expression, and enrichment programs like foreign languages. For kindergarten, they are prepared for grade one. They are taught independent reasoning and association between written and spoken words. For school-aged kids, they teach them on having a balanced lifestyle between academics and outdoor play, computer proficiency, supervised internet access in research projects, and on-going social skills reinforcement through The Goddard School FLEX Learning Program.  They also have summer programs with themes on Amazing Animals, Hooray for the USA, Mysterious Minds, Let’s Go Exploring, The Great Outdoors, Passport Around the World, and Time Travel.

Costs and requirements on running a Goddard System franchise:

You need to have a net worth of $700,000 and a total liquid asset of at least $140,000. Expect to be investing about $633,000 to $680,000. Franchise fee is $135,000 with an on-going royalty fee of 7%. This is for a renewable 15 year term agreement. You will need about 25 employees to run one location.

What is included in the franchise package?

There will be two days training at the headquarters and two weeks at your location. There will also be IACET training for teachers. Training will also include on-going professional development, program, curriculum, and health and safety. For real estate and site development, you will be assisted in analyzing the demographics, site selection, zoning, building design, lease negotiation, and construction management. In operations, there will be assistance in licensing and opening, budget control, hiring of initial director, and there will be a region specific operations representative.
