CHIP – The Child I.D. Program Franchise Information

CHIP – The Child I.D. Program is a franchise producing safety ID’s for children.  It was founded in 2001 by Marc R. Bakerman. What they want is to help parents keep their children safe and make it easier for them to find a missing or runaway child.

They know how parents panic when children gets lost that when they ask help from the police, they find it hard to give the information that the police needs to start looking for the child. If the parent has a Child I.D., they’ll just have to hand the card to the police and all the information they need would be there. They have also created a character named “CHIP” who’s a chipmunk and a cool father.  They use CHIP to teach kids about safety and they react better. The company is also looking into creating apparel and goods with CHIP on it as part of their marketing strategy. Their tagline is “Educate – Identify – Protect”.

What exactly do they do at CHIP?

In every CHIP, they have software: CHIPWare, that helps them take pictures and fingerprints of about 100 children in one hour which makes it easy for schools with a lot of students. They have put together the technology of Canon and Olympus to be able to take very high resolution pictures. When they take pictures, it is automatically transferred to the software without having to “save” it. This avoids mistakes on labelling or loosing pictures. They have also created software that is easy to use in capturing fingerprints without any mistakes. What’s even better is that when the Child I.D.’s are given to the school, there’s no need for them to assemble it because CHIP will do it for them. This saves them a lot of time. These Child I.D.’s are available in different products: CHIP Child I.D. Card, CHIP Refrigerator Magnet I.D., CHIP Backpack/Student I.D. Card, CHIP Disc™ The Digital I.D. Card, CHIP Band™ The “Next Generation” I.D. Bracelet, CHIP Keychain I.D., CHIP EZ Phone Card I.D. and CHIP Activity Book. Several information that can be found in an I.D. are information needed by the police to file a missing person report, photo of the child, vital information about the child, special medical needs in case of an accident, and emergency numbers.
