Wee Little Arts Franchise Information

Wee Little Arts is a franchise for a business providing art education for young children. It was formed in 2000 and started franchising in 2009.

It was founded by Melissa Bradshaw. She has a degree in Art Education and an award winning elementary school teacher. It is in her views that the elementary school students are not given enough support in building spatial skills, motor skills, creativity, and vocabulary which can be developed through art education.

It was her passion for the arts and teaching that became the birth of Wee Little Arts. They have already taught their curriculum to thousands of children and have received a lot of compliments from school directors and parents from North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, New Jersey, and Virginia. Wee Little Arts now have six locations in the United States and one location that is company owned.

What are the programs offered at Wee Little Arts?

They use different types of high quality and safe materials. They incorporate age appropriate literature, art history, and other visual art concepts. They also include introduction to various artistic media, descriptive vocabulary, and activities to develop creativity and imagination of the child.

The sessions are held once a week and last about 40 to 45 minutes. They also advise that the child takes the initial session; this in order for them to learn the basic skills first. The first session is on the Elements of Art. They introduce the major roles of the elements of shape, line, texture, and color. The second session is on Drawing. They will introduce the child to the fundamental elements of design. The children will be exposed to other artist’s work whether it is traditional or contemporary. Session three is on Painting. They are taught different techniques both in abstract and representational. They will be allowed to use different materials when creating their work from their imagination and their environment. They will also be allowed to explore mixing different medias. Session four is on Three Dimensions. Clay is the base medium used in this session. They will transform their two dimensional creations into three dimensional ones. This activity teaches children about height, weight, depth, width, and texture.
