Mister Transmission is a franchise for an automotive transmission repair and services. It was founded in 1963 and started franchising in 1969. It was founded by Bruce Brillinger.

When he first opened a shop, he went by three principles: attractive pricing, quality workmanship, and strong nationwide warranty. They say that they still live by these principles up to now. They claim to be the biggest chain in Canada when it comes to transmission specialists and they say that it is their responsibility to make sure that their customers gets back on the road as soon as possible.

Their mission statement is based on providing Expert Service, Quality Repairs, and Outstanding Warranty Protection. They now have 77 locations in Canada.

What services do they provide at Mister Transmission?

For multi-check and inspection, they check your fluids to see if there are damages or wear and tear that may also a sign of unpleasant odour and they do a road test to check on noises and other signs of problems. During the lift inspection, they include checking the engine RPM, neutral switch, modulators, throttle linkage, u-joints, transmission mounts, electronic controls, and fluid retention.

Their inspection service include free road test and multi-check, local towing, two year clutch warranty, courtesy cars, shift kits and coolers, nationwide warranty, centres coast to coast, automatics, standards, clutches, and differentials, most often, one day service, and they have specialists for front wheel drive transmissions and front axle repairs, and 4×4’s. They also provide driveline parts and service for racing from Mister Racing. They also have the Transmission School which educates technicians and everyone on transmissions, maintenance, spotting problems before it gets worse, transmission cut-away, and transmission repairs. Cost and requirements on running a Mister Transmission franchise

You need to have a net worth of $300,000 and a total liquid asset of at least $75,000. Expect to be investing about $100,000 to $125,000. The cost of Mister Transmission franchise fee is $25,000 with an on-going royalty fee of 7%. This is for a renewable 10 year term agreement. You will need about four to five employees to run one location. They allow multi-unit ownership. They do not allow absentee ownership.

What is included in the franchise package?

There will be one week training at the headquarters and training at your location when needed. You will be receiving newsletters and a toll free phone number. You will be given access to the internet. Expect to be attending meetings and receiving occasional field evaluations to check on your progress. For marketing support, there will be regional advertising and national media.
