Hawaii’s Java Kai Franchise

Hawaii’s Java Kai is a franchise for a coffee shop. It was founded in 1997 and started franchising in 2000.

It was founded by Jennifer and Brent Hickman when they got tired of their eight to five jobs. They said that they found paradise when they followed the Hanalei River that led them to Hanalei town. They smelled the freshly baked bagels and coffee from Old Hanalei Coffee Co. This coffee shop was originally established in 1994 but Jennifer and Brent Hickman bought it in 1997. They wanted to introduce the only coffee that is 100% American and opened a location on the South side of Kauai. It had the view of Kalapaki Bay and the surfers that is why they chose that area to roast their own coffee. Brent was the one who makes sure that they are roasting the best coffee. Jennifer spent her time adorning her husband’s work. With their desire to also serve freshly baked muffins and bagels, the third location was opened in Kapaa. It was focused on serving gourmet baked goods and doubles as a juice bar. They continue on living their dream working as a team and formed the first micro coffee roasting company in Kauai.
