Children’s Lighthouse is a franchise for an educational child care center. It was founded in 1996 by Pat and Mike Brown and they started franchising in 1999. They accept children ages 6 weeks old up to 12 years old.

Children’s Lighthouse provides educational services that are quality, safe, while giving the children the loving care that they need. They target the children’s development on emotional, social, physical, intellectual, and creative growth. They use a comprehensive material in education, A Beka. They also train their staff to be providing parents the “peace of mind” that they need.

What is the Children’s Lighthouse curriculum?

They use A Beka Books to be able provide the students the comprehensive education for young children. The books curriculum helps in establishing routines and good habits that are key factors in reducing inappropriate behaviour of children and makes a good foundation for life lessons. A Beka is workbook based and is age appropriate. These workbooks start at 2 years old. A Beka has more than 50 years of studies and research to make sure that the children using those benefits from it. They have classes for infants aged 6 to 24 months. They have the The Comprehensive Infant Curriculum and The Comprehensive Toddler Curriculum. For 2 year olds, they have the Twos. Included in these classes are Arts and Crafts with Button Bear, Learning Numbers with Button Bear, and Child Art. For Pre-Schoolers aged 3, they have Numbers & Skills, Letters and Sounds, Arts and Crafts with Amber Lamb, and Child Art. For Pre-Kindergarter aged 4 and 5, they have ABC 123, Readiness Skills, Writing with Phonics, Art Projects, and ABC Writing Tablet. For Kindergarten aged 5, they have Letters & Sounds, Writing with Phonics, Number Skills, Readiness Skills, Gods World, Social Studies, Writing Tablet, and Art Projects. For School-Agers aged 5 to 12 years old, they apply Ideas and Activities for After School Programs, and Caring for Children in School Age Programs. Some of other resources they use for this age are arcade games, Lego toys, board games, creative art, and TV. They involve these materials because these are thing they like to do when they get home from school except that they get to apply their social skills with other children.

Costs and Requirements Associated with Running a Lighthouse Franchise?

You need to have a net worth of $500,000 and a total liquid asset of at least $300,000. Expect to be investing about $429,000 to $3,036,000. The Children’s Lighthouse Franchise fee is $50,000 with an on-going royalty fee of 7%. This is for a renewable 20 year term agreement. You will need about 25 employees to run one location. They allow absentee ownership and multi-unit ownership.

What’s included in the franchise package?

There will be 4 weeks training at the Children’s Lighthouse headquarters, 4 weeks at your location, and there would be unlimited training on the first year. You will be receiving assistance in site selection and construction.  You will also receive newsletters, toll free number, and attend meetings. You will be given access to the internet, grand opening assistance, and purchasing cooperatives. You may also expect occasional field evaluations. For marketing, there will be co-op advertising, ad slicks, and regional advertising.
