Bahama Buck’s is a franchise serving mostly shaved ice drinks and smoothies.

Blake Buchanan started the Bahama Buck’s in 1990. He didin’t want to mow lawns or flip burgers as a job so he was always thinking up of business ideas so he could go it alone; then he thought of the concept of selling flavoured shaved ice. He built it and did all the construction by hand and with the help of family and friends as staff, he opened his first store. Together with his wife, Kippi Buchanan, they have made the summer job into a full time business.

Bahama Buck’s has created a mantra: “Flavour of Life”. They have made an all day dessert store that is perfect to go to and have a “Taste of Paradise” without having to have a long weekend; every store has been designed to give you the feel of being on an island. It’s place where you can relax and meet with friends.

What’s on the menu? They have a very wide range of flavours on Show for theie sno’s. You even have the option to get “Thin Ice” which is sugar-free flavours. Thin Ice is sweetened with Stevia. They have about 68 to choose from like White Coconut, Watermelon, Banana Colada, Birthday cake, Blueberry Cheesecake, Cherry Kola, Cinnamon, Cotton Candy, Cream Soda, Dreamsicle, Gilligan’s Grape, Hurricane Daiquiri, Jamaican Punch, and the list goes on.

If you’re having a party, they have the Paradise Party Pack which includes everything you need to make the perfect Sno’s.  It has three bottles of flavours, serves 25 cups and has complete instructions on how to make it. These are also available to carry around with you and labelled as “Snoblast”. You can make any day a snowy day with their “Snow2Throw”. They are snow balls in a special package to keep it from melting until you’re ready to have a snow ball fight with your friends.

For Smoothies, they have Strawberry Calypso, Orange Cruiser, Wavebender and Big Kahuna. Fresh cut fruits are also available every day. The Bahama Buck’s Paradise Fruit is freshly cut fruits in a glass topped with whipped cream. Bahama Buck’s also has an Island House Coffee made from Kona coffee. You may opt to mix it with their signature flavours to feel the tropics. It’s the Frostalatte. Bahama Buck’s also participates in fundraising activities. You can schedule a fundraiser at your local store and they will give a percentage of their proceeds to your organization. Another option is the Snoblast Cool Cash. They will sell the Snoblast to you at a lower price then you can sell it at its actual price.

How do you become a Bahama Buck’s franchisee? Net worth requirement is $400,000 and you need to have a total liquid asset of at least $80,000.Total investment would be at around $163,422-$463,884. Franchise fee is $29,500 with an on-going royalty fee of 6%. This is for a renewable 10 year term agreement.

What’s included in the package? There will be 5 days training at the headquarters and 5 days at your location. Also included are help with site selection, newsletters and meetings for franchisees. A toll free number will be provided to receive on-going support. There will be assistance in purchasing cooperative as well. Marketing and advertising includes ad slicks and regional advertising.
