1-800-DryCarpet Carpet Cleaning Franchise

1-800-DryCarpet Carpet Cleaning is a franchise for a carpet dry cleaning business. It was founded in 1992 by Greg Cantrell who is also the current president and CEO. He was the one of those who started the mobile auto detailing companies in Southern California. He sold it and that’s when he started conceptualizing the DryCarpet Cleaning business. It was with the help of chemist Dr. Don Atkins that he was able to produce a dry organic product that they now use for the cleaning of carpets. He was supposed to name their product as “Spongex” but he decided to name it Swedry instead after his Swedish roots. They started franchising in 2005.

What exactly is Swedry Carpet Cleaning?

Swedry makes physical contact rather than just hot water pressure. The moisture is controlled by its dry organic system. The soil that is deep down is permanently removed by Swedry. Because of the dry process, the carpet is left dry and can already be used immediately. Since they don’t use hot water pressure, the natural stain resistant materials of the carpet is kept intact. Water can attract new soil so if it’s a dry process, there’s nothing that will attract new soil. They have had detractors saying that the process is not really dry. They defended themselves saying that rather, they use a process that is “moisture controlled”.

How does Swedry work?

First, they have mastered the process of vacuuming the 85% of the dirt that is dry. They say that it’s the most important step. Once all that can be vacuumed is removed, there would be about 15% of dirt left and it’s those that contain oils and grease which cannot be vacuumed. Then, they apply the moistened Swedry granules. What it does is absorb the oil and grease before it’s vacuumed together. They don’t use soap and water and they claim that the product they’re using is completely safe and organic. The difference between Swedry and Hot Water Extraction (HWE) is the amount of moisture they use. Swedry uses a smaller amount of moisture that’s why the carpet is left dry after cleaning.
