It was founded in 1982 and started franchising in 2001. It was founded by Bob and Mary Black. Bob was a teacher while his wife, Mary, was a radiology secretary. It was first an idea that they came up with to supplement their income whenever it was summer break. Bob had doubts about the idea at first but after he saw how many quarters a friend earns from a similar business, he agreed to venture the business.

The business was not attractive to most financial institutions. It took them 13 tries before they got approved for a loan. Bob’s father helped them constructing their first car wash and despite that it was winter in Illinois, the business was a success. The first car wash was named Town’s Edge Car Wash. It was six year after before they changed their name to Super Wash. They now have over 155 locations in the United States.

Cost and requirements on running a Super Wash franchise

You need to have a net worth of $500,000 and a total liquid asset of at least 100,000. Expect to be investing about $468,000 to $1,001,000. The cost of Super Wash franchise fee is $9,000 with an on-going royalty fee that varies. This is for a renewable 10 year term agreement. You will need about three to four employees to run one location. They allow multi-unit ownership and absentee ownership.

What is included in the franchise package?

There will be training at the headquarters and on-going training at the franchisees location. You will be given access to their Real Estate department who will help you in site selection and approval, market evaluation, site plans, land contracts, architectural blue prints, topographical surveys, state and local governmental approvals, permitting, and total project cost estimates. You will be receiving newsletters and a toll free phone number. You will be provided assistance at the grand opening. Expect to be attending meetings and receiving occasional field evaluations to check on your progress. For marketing support, you will be provided a media kit with radio commercials, newspaper ads, and other marketing programs.
