Palm Beach Puppies is a franchise for a pet store. It was founded by Heidi and Alan Garson in 2005 in Boca Raton, Florida. They wanted to create a different environment for the puppies.
Instead of putting them inside cages, they are placed in baby cribs with bumpers and mobiles. They are placed there so that the future families can see them at play with their roommates. They have had celebrities like Britney Spears and Paris Hilton as customers. In 2007, they opened their second location in Wellington, Florida. In 2008, they started franchising. It remains to be a family owned and operated to this day.
What does Palm Beach Puppies offer?
The couple used to breed Old English Sheepdogs. They now only deal with Licensed USDA and Hobby Breeders. Each puppy is hand-picked and checked thoroughly by veterinarians before they are sold at the store. They specialize in Teacup and Toy Breed Puppies. Right now, the most saleable ones are the Maltipoos, Shipoos, Maltese Shih-Tzus, and Yorkiepoos. They also have poodles, Yorkies, Shih-Tzus, Maltese’s and big ones like Labradors, German Shepards, and Golden Retrievers.
In December of 2006, they merged with Fun Dog Training LLC owned by Tim Barker. They offer one free home training evaluation if you purchase a puppy at Palm Beach Puppies. They also give discounts on training fees after that. They advise that training starts as early as 8 weeks old. Their trainers have certifications from National K-9 School for Dog Trainers, Triple Crown Dog Training Academy, and Certification Council of Pet Dog Trainers (CPDT).
In 2008, they merged with Fancy Pups which made grooming available as their service. Owners of Fancy Pups, Rhonda and Ken, wanted to move to be a more upscale area and Palm Beach Puppies wanted to find expert groomers. They now offer new puppy owners a free first bath within 2 weeks from the time of purchase. They say that it’s important to get the puppies used to being groomed. Grooming cost starts at $45 depending on the coat, size, and difficulty. They also groom cats for $55.
Upon purchasing your new puppy, all accessories are also available to you at Palm Beach Puppies. They have all natural dog food, beds & furnitures, collars, harnesses & leashes, dog bowls, carrier jars & feeders, dog carriers, dog clothes, dog jewellery, toys, grooming & spa products, and home products like hangers for your dogs clothes.
How do you become a franchisee?
You need to have a net worth of at least $500,000 and a total liquid asset of at least $200,000. Expect to be investing about $178,000 to $237,000. Franchise fee is $37,500 with an on-going royalty fee of 7%. This is for a renewable 25 year term agreement.
What’s included in the Palm Beach Puppies franchise package?
There will be 2 weeks training at the headquarters. You will also have a toll-free phone line, assistance at grand opening, internet and expect occasional field evaluations to check on your progress. For marketing, there will be co-op advertising and regional advertising.
