Laund-UR-Mutt is a franchise for a dog spa and bath shop. It was founded by Dawn Olson in 1995. She grew up in Juneau, Alaska but moved to Colorado to become a Certified Veterinary Technician from Bel-Rea Institute.
What she wanted was to bring the pet lovers in Littleton together and make them aware of their pets health, well-being, and happiness. She’s now currently managing the Ken Caryl location with the help of her 7 employees. Some of them does administrative work and functions as pet stylists and bathers.
What does Laund-UR-Mutt have to offer to your pets?
They have the self-serve pet wash wherein you can use their tubs for 30 minutes. You can purchase one time use shampoos and conditioners. There’s also an option for hydro-massage. The price of 30 minutes starts at about $13. Self service wash saves you the cleaning afterwards. If you don’t want to do the washing, they have the full-serve bath appointment. This includes the hydro massage with shampoo and conditioner, removal of undercoat and dead hair, and complimentary nail trim for no extra charge. They set appointments 7 days a week.
Price varies depending on the breed but you can always ask for a free quote. This lasts for about 3-4 hours. They also offer Salon Haircut Appointment. This includes the hydro massage bath, dry, and brush. Haircut is done by hand depending on the breed or as preferred by the owner. Additional services and products available are: Hydromassage, Walk-In Nail Trims, Oatmeal Shampoos & Conditioner, Soothing Hot Oil Soak, Pawdicure, De-Shedding Treatment, Anal Gland Expression, Oxyfresh Deodorizing Products, and Teethbrushing. Price ranges from $5 to about $19. Other services offered is their training classes for your pets and for you.
Costs and Requirements Associated with Running a Laund-UR-Mutt Franchise
You need to have a net worth of at least $150,000 and a total liquid asset of at least $50,000. Expect to be investing about $150,000. Franchisee fee is $25,000 with an on-going royalty fee of 5%. This is for s renewable 10 year term agreement.
What’s included in the franchise package?
There will be 1 week training at the headquarters, 1 week at your location and on-going training as needed. Part of the on-going support is the assistance during the grand opening, internet, security and safety procedures, field operations and evaluations, and access to purchasing cooperatives. For marketing, there will be co-op advertising and ad slicks.
