KidStage Franchise

KidStage is a franchise for a business providing children’s drama program. It was founded in 1997 and they started franchising in 2003.

They conduct theatre activities, acting classes, and performance opportunities for children in the program. They also focus on teamwork, concentration, movement, theatre terminology, and voice. After they have completed the program, they make a full production and everyone is given a role. Some are actors, dancers, singers, lighting and sound technicians, stage managers, costume designers, and prop masters.

The trainers are instructors who are experienced in teaching children about theatre and making an environment that is interesting and safe for them. They usually conduct classes in day care centers, local schools, museums, citizen centers, parks, boys and girls clubs, or any venue that can be rented and have enough open space for the kids. Outside the program, they aim for the kids to perform better in school. They now have 13 locations all over the United States, one in Canada, and two that is company owned.

What kind of productions are these children able to produce?

The North Dallas, Texas Class was able to produce Disney’s The Jungle Book for 2011. The North Fort Worth, Texas Class was able to produce The Wizard of Oz also in 2011. In Boston, Massachusetts, they produced plays such as “Balancing Act” which is about healthy food and lifestyle choices, “Count Me In Circus” about math concept and mainly had kids ages six and below, “Buster has Asthma” from a Marc Brown Book on managing asthma, “The Plate of Cookies” about two friends sharing the cookies they baked, “D.W.
