In Home Pet Services is a franchise for pet care services. It was founded by Robyn Elman in 2001. She has a degree in Biology from Binghamton University. After college, she was a zookeeper at Wildlife Conservation Society in the Bronx.
After several years, she left the zoo and became a manager at the Pet Menu. It was then she realized that she wanted to make it on her own. When she opened her first location, they had about 800 clients in the area. They started franchising in 2008 and the first franchise location was opened in April 2008 in Brooklyn, New York. They now have locations handling the Clinton Hill area, Marine Park, Forest Hills, Northeast Queens, and Great Neck.
What services do they offer?
They offer Dog Walking in one-on-one sessions unless you request otherwise. It could last for about 20-60 minutes. If there is a park near your home, they can tire them running and playing. Another service offered is the In Home Boarding. They can stay with In Home Pet Services if you will be away for a vacation. They will be playing with other dogs and humans. All dogs will be required to present proof that all vaccinations, Bortadella, and Rabies are up to date to ensure safety of everyone.
In Home Pet Services also conducts seminars on Pet First Aid and CPR Instruction. This includes rescue breathing, poisoning, bleeding, heat injuries, and choking. This is to prepare any pet owner or professional for any emergency. They also do pet sitting in the comfort of your pet’s home. They do pet sitting for dogs, fish, cat, birds, reptiles, and any other exotic pets you may have. A unique service offered is the Bird Clipping. They do it in home, in a comfortable and familiar environment for your bird. They clip wings and nails, even beak clipping for some who simply have overgrown beaks. They also do nail clipping for dogs and cats. There are other services offered depending on the location.
Costs and Requirements Associated with Running an In Home Pet Services Franchise
You need to have a net worth of at least $25,000. Expect to be investing about $7,200 to $31,100. Franchise fee is $6,000 with an on-going royalty fee of 5%. This is for a renewable 10 year term agreement.
What’s included in the franchise package?
There will be an in depth training that will last more or less one week and includes a 4 hour session on pet first aid and CPR. Besides the training, you will still receive a copy of the operations manual that includes all standards and procedures in running the franchise. You will also have exclusivity in your territory. As you go along, they will stipulate the boundaries that you will be covering and they will not allow another franchise in the same location. There will also be meetings to help you refresh your skills in running the franchise. For marketing, you will be provided soft and hard copies of advertising materials. You will also have a section in their website to let people know of your location.
