Young Chefs Academy Franchise Information

Young Chefs Academy is a franchise for a cooking school for children. It was founded in 2003 and started franchising in 2005.

It was founded by Julie Fabing Burleson and Suzy Vinson Nettles. They describe their classes with a heap of kitchen safety, a scoop of etiquette, a handful of table setting, a pinch of menu planning, and laughter to taste.

They say that cooking is a skill that can be used for a whole lifetime. The children can be taught how to become creative and artistic. They set-up their kitchen like the real kitchen for the children to be able to use what they learned in school at home. They now have 85 locations in the United States and one location in Canada.

What programs do they offer at Young Chefs Academy?

Their classes are held on a weekly basis. They also have a different theme every month and new recipes in every week. They may be learning about new tastes from Emeril Lagasse and Rachael Ray or learning about different dishes from around the world such as Italian Cuisine. In their classes, they include proper food handling, kitchen safety, cooking and baking techniques, food preparation, table setting, presentation, basic cognitive subject matter, and manners.

There are three types of weekly classes. The first one is Kinder Cooks for chefs aged three to five years old. Second is the Junior Chefs for chefs aged five and a half up to about 13 or 14 years old. Third is the Senior Chefs for those who are no longer beginners. They have to meet specific criteria to be qualified for this class. They are given a deeper culinary experience. Besides the classes, they offer birthday parties.

The packages are all-inclusive including the printing and mailing of your invitations and they would even write down the birthday gifts you receive as you open them. They have birthday themes; you can build your gift bag, and customize your parties. Another offering is the Camp Can-I-Cook and Mini Camps that features themes such as Chocolate Adventure and Cool Treats. They also have the Master Chef Program for those who wants to get serious about learning to cook and the Chef’s Club to get benefits and discounts.
