The Yellow Balloon Franchise Information

The Yellow Balloon is a franchise for a hair salon for kids. It was formed in 1976 and started franchising in 2000.

It was founded by Nadia Pidgeon. She said that being a mother of two, she understands that kids needs to be given attention, entertained, and feel comfortable when they are getting their haircut. The first Yellow Balloon hair salon was opened near University of California Los Angeles in 1976. The next location was opened near Universal Studios which catered to children of celebrities such as Warren Beatty and the Olsen Twins when they were still child stars. They say that they are now serving the third generation of clients which also explains why their salon has a sense of nostalgia with designs from Flintstones, Pac Man, and Star Wars games. They also play Disney movies that help calm children down. After their haircut, they are given balloons, lollipops, and toys.

What types of services do they offer at The Yellow Balloon?

They are known for giving the Baby’s First Haircut. They know how important this moment is to the child’s parents. Their package for the Baby’s First Haircut includes a frame, post-cut photo, certificate, and a saved lock of hair as a tradition.

They also advise that children be brought to the salon before the day of the first haircut to get them familiar with the environment and surroundings. You may want to have the child watch another child getting a haircut to explain to them that it would not hurt. Other services includes Kid’s Cuts, Pre-teens and Teens, Adults, Shampoo and Deep Conditioning, Bang Trim, Blowdry, Detangling, Color and Roots, Styling, Hair “Bling” and Hair Tinsels, Lice Check, and Hair Color Extensions and Feathers.

Price starts at $3 and other services depend on the length and thickness of your child’s hair. For birthday parties, they include fun hairstyles, manicure-polish, curls, braids, blings, extensions, glitter, color spray, flips, clips, and make-up. They also sell their own products lines such as So Cozy, Circle of Friends, Nature’s Baby Organics, Original Sprout D’organiques, and Fairy Tales.
