One of their competitors is Super 8 Motel but they are a notch above them because they have a number of features or facilities that they don’t have. Super 8 Motel is their sister, same as Knights Stop, Knights Court, and Arborgate Inns. They now have 320 franchises and 18 in Canada.

Expect to be investing about $98,000 to $4,816,000. Franchise fee is $7,000 with an on-going royalty fee of 5%. This is for a renewable 10 year term agreement. They require a general business experience. They allow absentee ownership and multi-unit ownership. Currently, 5% of franchisees own more than one unit. They don’t offer financial assistance and currently is not associated with other financing institutions. The only financial assistance they offer is to offer deferred payment of the initial fee but this is their sole discretion.
What’s included in the Knight Inn franchise package?
There will be five days training at the headquarters, 2 days at franchisees location and regional workshops on property training. They refer to it as Knights Inn Integration Training and franchisees are required to finish the training at least 30 days before the opening. The parent company has determined mandatory and optional trainings for franchisees and on-going trainings are done through seminars, and different forms of trainings such as online training. The franchisee or the hired manager is obligated to attend their Strategic Trainings. They also provide exclusivity in territory in which they would not allow another franchisee to open the same brand in your designated territory. You will be receiving newsletters, attend meetings, a toll free phone number, and access to the internet. You may also expect occasional visits form a representative from the headquarters. This is to check on your progress and help you create an effective business plan. You will also be given access to purchasing cooperatives. For marketing, there will be national media.
