The Houlihan’s franchise is for a full service restaurant business. It was founded in 1972 and started franchising in 1994.
The first location was opened in Kansas City, Kansas. Their first specialties then were roasted duck, Caviar burgers, fresh carrot juice, and foot-long hot dogs. Their bar has drinks in White Vino, Red Red Wine, Bubbles, Mini Martini Flights, Martinis, Specialty Cocktails, Skinny Drinks, Long Island Iced Teas, Beer, Vodka, Gin, Rum, Tequila, Cognac, Scotch, Boubon or Whisky, and Cordials. For Entrees, they have Stuffed Chicken Breast, Enchiladas, Down Home Pot Roast, New York Strip, Atlantic salmon, Huge Panko Breaded Shrimp, and Jambalaya. For Pastas, there are Basil Pesto Pasta, Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo, Tuscan Lemon Chicken Pasta, and Spaghetti with Shrimp, Scallops, and Mussels. For Sandwiches and Burgers, they have Southwest Grilled Chicken Wrap, Veggie Burger, and Taos Chipotle Turkey Wrap. They also have Grilled Chicken Sandwiches, Build Your Own Black Angus Burgers, items with gluten free ingredients, and meatless and vegan options.

You need to have a net worth of $2,000,000. Expect to be investing about $1,600,000 to $4,300,000. The cost of Houlihan’s franchise fee is $40,000 with an on-going royalty fee of 4%. This is for a renewable 20 year term agreement. You will need about 78 employees to run one location. They allow multi-unit ownership and absentee ownership.
What is included in the franchise package?
There will be 40 days training at a corporate store and 40 days at your location. You will be given a toll free phone number. You will be given assistance at the grand opening and given access to the internet, purchasing cooperatives, and a 24/7 help desk accessible through phone for software and office technical issues. Expect to be attending meetings and receiving occasional field evaluations. For marketing support, there will be ad slicks, co-op advertising, regional advertising, and national media.
