It was founded in 1985 and started franchising in 1987. It was founded by Tom Gallagher and opened its first location in Alberta, Canada. In 1987, his brother-in-law, Michael Wilson, purchased the first franchise of Fibrenew. It was the start of opening 20 more franchises. In 1994, Wilson purchased the company and was able to open 43 locations in Canada and 11 more locations in New Zealand.

For the Commercial market, they restore chairs and leather couches in government and business offices, repair chairs, stools, benches and couches in restaurants and bars, refurbish stained and worn theatre seats, replace leather or vinyl on damaged fitness equipment, and removes stains or repairs burns in carpet. You need to have a net worth of $25,000 and a total liquid asset of at least $15,000. Expect to be investing about $30,000 to $50,000. The cost of the Fibrenew franchise fee is $30,000 to $50,000 with an on-going royalty fee of $300 per month. This is for a renewable five year term agreement. This franchise can be run from home. You will need only one employee to run one location. They allow multi-unit ownership and absentee ownership.

There will be two weeks training at the headquarters. This includes field and classroom instruction conducted by certified training staffs. There will be on-going training through workshops, seminars, and conferences. You will have exclusivity in your territory. You will be given the right to use the Trade name and Trademark. You will be given access to propriety methods, products, manuals, and technical support through the internet, via phone or you can access the Technical Library. You will be provided with a complete inventory and equipment, invoices, business cards, envelopes, statements, and brochures.
