It was founded in 1972 by W. David Isley in Kansas City, Missouri. He was an employee at aerospace. Him and his wife Marcia was initially working for restaurants fixing burnt, torn, peeling, or chipped vinyl chairs and booths. They found out that car dealerships also needed their services to fix automobile’s appearance. They only concentrated in the Kansas City area until they started franchising in 1981. They have a sister company named “The Doctors Touch”. They did paintless dent removal, bumper repair, automotive paint touch-up, vinyl and leather repairs,recoloring of auto interior, ottoman and sofas, chairs, scuffs, bumps, scratches, and vinyl siding repair. Dr. Vinyl was sold to Richard Reindeers in 2001. Their target market includes restaurant owners, used car dealers, insurance companies, hotel managers, and private home and car owners.
They now have 190 locations in the United States, 68 in other countries like Puerto Rico, Mexico, Switzerland, Germany, Portugal, England, Austria, Canada, Turkey, Ecuador, Croatia, Caribbean, Italy, and Netherlands, and four locations that are company owned.
