Batteries Plus is a franchise providing different types of batteries. It was founded in 1988 and started franchising in 1992.

Their first location was opened in Green Bay, Wisconsin. They sell all sorts of batteries from cell phone batteries up to something as sophisticated as an aircraft battery. They do not only provide batteries but also technical support that helps in designing batteries and testing the battery system to make sure that it is working at its top potential. They also provide batteries from business to business. The company is now owned by Roark Capital Group which is based in Atlanta, Georgia. Some of the other companies they own are Cinnabon, Moe’s Southwest Grill, Carvel Ice Cream, FastSigns, Pet Valu, Auntie Ann’s, McAlister’s Deli, and Primrose Schools. Batteries Plus now has about 424 locations all over the United States and 29 locations that are company owned. Their current headquarters is in Hartland, Wisconsin but they have a satellite sales office in Atlanta, Georgia. They are affiliated with Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA), International Franchise Association (IFA), and Battery Solutions.

What type of batteries do they have at Batteries Plus?

They have alkaline batteries such as Rayovac maximum, AA, AAA, Duracell Copper Top 9v, and CD cell batteries. They have ATV batteries for Polaris, Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, and Yamaha. They also have battery boxes, battery tender charger, and booster jumper cables. Another is the button cell and batteries for calculators and camcorders. They even have batteries for cars and trucks such as an X2 Power High Performance Sealed AGM battery, odyssey battery, and Spiral Cell Optima. They also sell car battery chargers for dual battery 24-volt systems and vintage 8-volt model vehicles. They have batteries for cell phones, coin cells, cordless phone, and a cordless tool.

Costs and requirements on running a Batteries Plus franchise

You need to have a net worth of $350,000 and a total liquid asset of at least $100,000. Expect to be investing about $174,000 to $349,000. The Batteries Plus franchise fee is $37,500 with an on-going royalty fee of 5%. This is for a renewable 10 year term agreement. You will need about three to four employees to run one location.

What is included in the franchise package?

There will be three weeks training at the headquarters, three weeks at your location, and regional meetings. You will be receiving newsletters and a toll free phone number. You will be given assistance at the grand opening and access to the internet and purchasing cooperatives. You may also expect occasional field evaluations to check on your progress. For marketing, there will be co-op advertising ad ad slicks.
