Amazing Athletes is a franchise for a physical fitness sports program for preschools. It was founded in 2002 and started franchising in 2006. It was founded by the chiropractor Dr. Janee Henderson and her husband who is a sports coach, Glen Henderson.
It was in 2001 that they started searching for a preschool for their children and thought of applying developmental sports programs in preschools. The couple formulated a 50 week curriculum that teaches the children about the fundamentals of physical fitness, fine and gross motor skills, muscle development, and hand eye coordination. This includes different types of ball sports. It’s designed for children aged 2 ½ to 6 years old. Their programs have been applied to more than 515 preschools all over the country and currently have 42 franchises all over the United States.
What’s included in the Amazing Athletes program?
The class lasts for about 35 minute each, and is usually carried out once a week. If not in preschools, it is held at day cares or recreation areas. Amazing Athletes start from the basic fundamentals and teach the mechanics of 9 different sports such as Basketball, Baseball, Tennis, Golf, Hockey, Volleyball, Soccer, Football, and Lacrosse. For hand eye coordination, they do overarm and underhand throwing and catching. For cardiovascular fitness, they have stretching, speed, muscle tone, and agility and plyometrics. They have programs that are designed for specific age groups. In muscle development, they also include jumping, running, hopping, skipping, throwing, and galloping. When the child is signed up for a program, they give them an Amazing Athlete T-Shirt and newsletters are sent to parents every month regarding active games age appropriate statistics, and nutrition.
They have received awards from “America’s Hottest Franchise” in 2008. From Franchise Business Review, they won an award for Best in Category-Child Services Franchises in 2009. They were chosen out of the 2,400 active franchises in the United States and in Canada. Also in 2009, they were awarded as part of Entrepreneur Magazine’s 30th Annual Franchise 500.
Costs and Requirements Associated with Running an Amazing Athletes franchise?
You will need to have a net worth of $45,000 and a total liquid asset of at least $12,500. Expect to be investing about $37,600 to $60,100. The Amazing Athletes franchise fee is $15,000 with an on-going royalty fee of $40 a month. This is for a renewable 10 year term agreement. They require general business experience and the willingness to work with children. You will need only 1 employee to run one location and 1 person is to handle a maximum of 12 children. They do not allow absentee ownership. They allow multi-unit ownership. They also have financing aid if you need it.

There will be 4 days of training at the headquarters. You will have exclusivity in the Amazing Athletes territory based on the zip code of your location. This franchise can be run from home because the programs are done in day care centers, preschools, churches, and recreation areas.
