They have been in the industry for more than 25 years and now have more than 200 locations in the United States and more than 3,000 vehicles. Their headquarters is in Matawan, New Jersey.
What kind of vehicles do they rent out?
They have local and foreign vehicles. Sizes ranges from economy to full size. They have mini vans that can sit 7-8 people and they also have SUV’s and light duty trucks. Vehicles all have automatic transmission, has air-conditioning, cruise control, automatic door locks, AM/FM radios and even CD players. Some locations also have DVD players and GPS units that you can add-on to your service. To add to their competitive rates, they have promos such as the referral rewards, rental rewards, commercial rates, and weekend specials wherein you can get a mid-size car on a Friday afternoon and return it Monday morning. These promos depend on the location. They added a service to a usual car rental by also buying your new or pre-owned car. They say that they have the 2 qualities that will help you in finding your next car: price and service. They stand behind what they sell and they will give you the same level of service they give their rental clients.
How do you become a Affiliated Car Rental franchisee?
Expect the cost of investing to be about $45,000 to $72,000. Franchise fee is $5,000 to $11,600 with an on-going royalty fee that varies. Term of agreement is perpetual. They allow absentee ownership though currently, 99% of the owners are their own operators. You may also own more than one location. Currently, 5% of the owners own more than one location. You will also need 2-3 employees in one location.
What’s included in the franchise package?
There will be 2 days training at the headquarters and 2 days at your location. There would also be ongoing training from rental professionals besides the support thru telephone and occasional site visits. All forms and operational materials will be provided. You will have an insurance program and your own website. For marketing, they will give you an indoor illuminated signage, and a co-operative outdoor illuminated sign program. You will have access to several vendors that they have approved such as credit card services, auto rental software solutions, national yellow page program, automotive fleet services, automotive fleet finance, national road service, internet reservation system, and other insurance products.
