Red Roof Inns Franchise Information

Red Roof Inns is a franchise for an economy hotel. It was founded in 1972 and started franchising in 1996. It was founded by James R. Trueman. The first location was opened in Columbus, Ohio. They started with just $8.50 per night while providing clean and comfortable rooms, friendly and attentive staffs, and this is what they call good and honest value for the customer’s money. Trueman started out as a contractor in Columbus. He also has the passion in driving race cars.

He said that it is possible to get quality out of simplicity and economy. As they expanded, they remained true to providing quality service without having to charge high prices. He made sure that this is consistent throughout all the locations. In 1986, they already had 155 motels. During the same time, he was about to become an owner of an Indy 500 winning team. Their current President is Andrew Alexander and Executive Vice President of Brand Operations and Franchise is Rob Wallace. They explained that the reason why they have only one brand is so that they can focus on every franchisee every single day.

They believe that having their own locations that they manage and operate makes it easier for them to have an open communication with the franchisees. They also believe that this helps them understand the franchisees better. They even hold Franchise Advisory Council meetings at a regular basis which also stands as a ground for them to consider every location when making decisions. They take pride in having experienced General Managers as Franchise Operations Directors. They now have 135 locations in the United States and 205 locations that are company owned.
