My Gym Children’s Fitness Center Franchise Information

My Gym Children’s Fitness Center is a franchise for a business providing a facility for children’s early learning and fitness programs.

It was founded in 1983 by William Caplin and Yacov & Susi Sherman. The first two locations were opened in Vany Nuys and Santa Monica, California. The founders have experiences in the field of dance, sports, kinesiology, early childhood development, and gymnastics. The program and facility was designed to give children the space to be active in various physical education classes to help them gain self-esteem and social skills. Cory Bertisch and Monique Vranesh purchased the Van Nuys location in 1989. They are graduates of University of California at Santa Barbara and they felt an immediate success with the My Gym business.

Together with the original founders, they started developing the programs even more. They refined the systems and operation as well as their custom-made equipment. In 1995, they established the My Gym Enterprises or MGE which became responsible for franchising the company worldwide. They now have 158 locations in the United States, three in Canada, and 41 locations in other countries.
