Great Steak & Potato Franchise

The Great Steak & Potato franchise is for a restaurant serving fries, baked potatoes, and philly cheesesteak sandwiches.

It was founded in 1982 and started franchising in 1986. It started out as a hot dog vendor in the 1930’s in Philadelphia’s Little Italy. He thought ““Hot dogs for lunch again?”. He decided to get sliced steak instead, grilled it, and served it with a lot of onions and sticks it in a bun. He was about to eat it when a cab driver offered him a nickel for it.

That was the first cheesesteak sandwich that was sold. I 1982, two brothers from Ohio visited Philadelphia and they simply fell in love with the cheesesteak. They wanted to bring that same thing around the country. Their first store was opened in Dayton, Ohio. It quickly grew to five locations in Ohio. Just three years later, they started franchising their business. They now have 133 locations all over the United States, seven in other countries, and one that is company owned.
