It was founded in 1988 in Adelaide, Australia. They started franchising it in Australia in 1992. It was brought to the United States in 1997, to Harrogate, North Yorkshire, UK in 2001. It was in 2003 when they brought the first United States franchise in Orlando, Florida. They celebrated their 1000th worldwide store in August of 2005. The 500th store in the United States was opened in 2006. Cartridge World was sold to Wolseley Private Equity, Australia in 2007. The current Chief Executive Officer is Tom Fricke. He served the Navy for five years after he went to the Naval Academy. He also attended Stanford Graduate School of Business. Their mission is to help businesses save on costs and to save the environment. They encourage the reuse of cartridges to lessen the impact on landfills. What they want is to reach that day when reusing cartridges becomes as common as separating waste materials in our trash bins. They now have 596 locations in the United States, 10 in Canada, and 990 locations in other countries.
